"But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us." Romans 8:37b (NASB)
Who fights your battles? Are you an only child? Or do you have an older brother or sister? Or are you an older sibling? If one of your family members, or if you were getting picked on, would there be someone to stand up for you? Ultimately there are battles in life that are too big for any one of us to tackle on our own. When it comes to the very real inevitability of death there are battles that are too big for any of us. The phrase, “God won’t give you anything that you can’t handle,” simply isn’t true. There are many things in life that are completely unbearable because we weren’t designed to face them in the first place. All tragedy is a result of the fall. But we can overcome the battles we face. We don’t have to be a prisoner to them. When we say, “I overcome by the power of the blood of Jesus,” we are recognizing that what He has accomplished through the shedding of His blood enables us and empowers us to handle the things that we can’t handle because it is not us handling them it is Him. He fights our battles.
