MATT MAHER CAPTURES SIX NOMINATIONS
FOR GMA DOVE AWARDS

Varied Nominations Show Singer/Songwriter/Worship Leader’s Versatility

(Nashville, Tenn.) February 18, 2010 – Songwriter, recording artist and worship leader Matt Maher continues to pull in accolades for his work both as a solo artist and a collaborator, picking up a total of six nominations for the 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards.

Maher, called “this year’s breakthrough nominee” by the Associated Press, is nominated in the prestigious Song of the Year category, as well as Worship Song of the Year for “I Will Rise,” a song recorded by Chris Tomlin.  Maher picked up another nod in the Worship Song of the Year category for the song “Alive Again” as well as one for Praise & Worship Album of the Year for his acclaimed sophomore project Alive Again.

His Dove nomination slate is rounded out by mentions in the Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year category for “Since The World Began” as well as Special Event Album of the Year for Glory Revealed II: The Word of God In Worship.

Simultaneously excited and humbled by the nominations, Maher approached the announcement with his usual aplomb, noting:

“I’m very honored and excited to stand alongside friends, peers, and the music industry as we take time to celebrate and give honor to a God who gives us the ability to create and craft songs and melodies that in turn, point back to Him. All music and art is a wonderful, yet pale reflection of the beauty of God and the Gospel, but we do it because we're compelled by this great Love.”

The Dove Award nominations cap a career-accelerating 2009 for the longtime worship leader and songwriter, which also featured Apple, Inc.’s iTunes Store, the industry-leading digital music retailer, naming the song “Alive Again” as the Best Christian & Gospel Single of 2009.

Maher’s current single “Hold Us Together” from the nominated Alive Again project, is gaining traction at radio, and Maher is featured on the recent Michael W. Smith-organized benefit single for Haitian earthquake relief “Come Together Now,” released under the banner of Music City United For Haiti.

Maher is in the midst of his spring 2010 “Hold Us Together” Tour which began in January and runs through early April, followed by a tour with label-mates Leeland and Phil Wickham in April and May. Other scheduled spring highlights for Maher included performing and speaking at the influential Q Conference in Chicago in April, and Canada and the YC Edmonton, Alberta, Canada event.

Any chance you'll be in Minnesota this year?

Congratulations, Matt. Well earned, and well deserved, in my biased opinion. The new album is a work of art, and will be a work of God in believers everywhere.

I'm really excited to see you collaborating so successfully, as well. "Remembrance" is genius. I can pray that song for hours. So much meat in the theology of the lyrics throughout the album. Why settle for less, when there are riches so much greater to be sought in God!?!

OH! But we changed it to "sister's" keeper... since it was just girls... : ) In case you were wondering... : )

I almost started crying just now when I realized you're going to be in my home town tomorrow night and I CAN'T GO!!! God has used this album to minister to me SO MUCH. Our church women went on a retreat last weekend and you didn't know it, we sang "Hold Us Together" along with you and the band and it was so much fun. Fit in perfectly with our theme. : ) You would have gotten a kick out of it. Thank you and have fun in our rainy city tomorrow night!!! : )

I have been enjoying the Alive Again CD recently and I absolutely love "Alive Again". And I absolutely love the source, at least I assume the source is from Augustine's "The Confessions". So awesome! Congrats on the nominations and I hope you walk away with them all!

Congratulations on the six nominations! I have been working backward to get all your cd's and today I collected the last one. I continue to be amazed at the lyrics within each of your songs. As Tina said above, your music is taking me deeper in my faith. Thank you for all you do to lead others to Christ through your music.

Our family has watched you grow from a member of our local church's music team, to parish worship leader (leading many teens to Christ)and onto an acclaimed songwriter and singer. We are proud to be a witness to how God has used you in mighty ways as His servant! You are an example as a true statement of faith. God determined...the way to bring out His best in us.(1 Corinthians 2:7 TM)May you continue to be God's vessel by effectively communicating the Gospel message thru your music and talents. Luv2U.

Congratulations, Matt! Your sincere humility is refreshing. The music you have created has so beautifully frames the portrait of the Lord and gives us glimpses into His infinite goodness. It has taken me deeper in my faith. Thank you for sharing your musical skills, your journey and your heart...it has been a blessing in mine.

May God bless you with His perfect peace, and may His angels protect you wherever you go. May His endless love fill your heart with joy!
